Welcome to Fastpitch Trainer

Welcome to the Fastpitch Trainer website.  This site works in conjunction with our professional fastpitch services.  Services include: Independent Scouting, Private instruction in pitching, hitting, left side speed game, fielding and catching.  Coaches camps and clinics in all of the previously named areas of the game.  We use the Right View Pro professional suite for all analysis and presentations.  The Right View Pro system allows us to use professional models for side-by-side comparisons and measurements to better illustrate the differences in our students and the pros.  The top collegiate programs in the United States are all using the Right View Pro system.  When you arrive your freshman year you have two choices:

A.)   Be familiar with the terminology and mechanics that you will learn the next 4-years and immediately make an impact

B.)    Experience a learning curve when you are competing for a starting position

So you want to play College Ball?

…our job is to groom prep players for College Softball

Colleges look for the same techniques that we work on daily with players.  There are indicators that coaches look for in players that tell them if they can play at the collegiate level.  Our comprehensive services allow us to first scout and fully evaluate players. Then train and consult with ball players to make sure they are getting the most out of their talent.  Here is a list of things that coaches must see in pitchers and hitters besides mental make-up that will either tell them that a player can make adjustments at the collegiate level or not:

Pitchers Must:

Have good attack posture with drive leg and spine angle

Drive, land, release and create ball movement along power line

Maintain glove arm at least at a 90 degree angle during 1st quarter of arm circle into circle peak

Achieve reverse posture at circle peak

Achieve foot touch between circle peak and 3rd quarter of arm circle

Stabilize throwing elbow directly underneath shoulder in pre-release to allow for proper arm whip

Use body to create spacing for a proper release along the power line

Provide resistance with front leg to promote proper sequencing

Pitchers will not keep elbow in tight after release, they will let the elbow release away from the body

If you are not working on these techniques, then you are behind.  Division 1 coaches do not take project players, they are looking for ball players that they can apply the finishing touches to on a daily basis.  Fastpitch Trainer is your answer to establishing these key fundamentals and understanding the way the top collegiate and professional pitchers in the world pitch.

Hitters Must:

Have Rhythm and Balance in their stance

Have a Negative move to begin the weight shift process

Shift the weight in a positive direction towards the pitcher for linear momentum to take into rotation

Achieve separation from their positive move into their toe touch

Land in a controlled, neutral position at toe touch to better make adjustments to different speeds and locations

Have an efficient first move to the ball by starting rotation: using their heel plant and first move with their top hands and back elbow

Stay connected with the upper body, lower body and bat during rotation

Allow the hands to move forward of the center of balance during bat lag to promote proper release

Make late adjustments to the pitch by staying inside of the ball and allowing the hands to operate in space inside the ball

Stop rotation by pivoting on the front hip and locking the front knee to transfer energy from the body to the bat before contact

Allow the weight of the bat to move into the finger tips of the top hand after rotation stops to let the bat whip through the zone

Get proper extension along the pitch line to allow for timing errors

Hitters your greatest asset is the ability to make adjustments.  Do you know how to adjust to inside/outside , high/low, slow/fast and hit pitches with late movement?  Do you hear coaches telling you not to take a big stride?  To keep your weight back?  To hit off your back leg?  If you plan on playing major college softball, you will not hear these things.  It’s time to learn them now.

How Does Your Game Compare?

Below is a photo of one of our clients.  How would this compare to the top short-game players in the world?  With the Right View Pro system, we can see how this player stacks up in every key position during her motion.  The result?  When put this player up against the top short-game players in the game, we found our client to be almost identical in the key positions necessary to develop speed out of the box, stay on line with the pitch, make adjustments to different speeds, locations and spins.  Our client has major work to do in a few areas in which she differs from the best in the game in regards to her short-game, but without side by side comparisons against the best, would this player have an understanding of where they need to be?  Or would they stay at this level because they already see a high level of success.

We work with atheltes of all ages

Before and After - 11 Year Old Hitter

Above is a sample of a 11-year old athlete that we work with individually. The "Before" frames are of her in green and red. Notice in the "After" frames our hitter is checked in "bat lag" (frames 1 and 2 left to right) where she has allowed the hands to move forward of her center of balance to promote a much stronger release of the bat head through contact, she has a wider base which has lead to more rotational energy from her positive move into rotation and has lead elbow in much stronger position to stay above the ball and has bat head below the top hand instead of above. In her finish we'll notice that our hitter in the "Before" sequence has changed her posture from contact to finish, and is leaning forward of the front hip, which means that her upper body prevented the bat head from releasing on the previous swing, and the front hip obviously did not become a pivot point during rotation compared to the "After" sequence where our hitter finishes behind the front hip, and the posture, and lower body remain virutally in the same position, which means that our hitter successfully stopped rotation and released the energy into the bat head in the transition from bat lag to contact. They key is that when viewed at full-speed we very rarely notice these small differences which are essential to a powerful, efficient swing. Why aren't you using the best technology n the world to work with your swing?
